Gionvinco seals qualification for the Azurri

I stayed awake ofcourse last night to watch the Azurri take on Japan. Deep down I was always weary of the Kamakazi threat. It turned out to be one of the most entertaining and riviting football matches I have seen in a while. End to End action, A period of 40 minutes or so where were completely Overun by the Samurai Warriors and an Italy that attacked and Dug Deep.

I must thank my fellow Azurri Fans on twitter that shared the banter and thrills with me @Lenn_Moleko and Bianconeri Man @giangitucci. We couldnt believe the Italy fightback after Japan dominated with some freakin atrractive football and went 2-0 up. The first a penalty after an error by Milan full back De Sciglio. Then Kagawa made it 2-0.

At one stage after watching the Japanese onslaught I thought what was worse. Brazil in 2009 or this Japanese team. As @gianitucci put it. When De Rossi scored Italys first to make it 2-1 it was though Italys alarm clock rung. De Rossi  was taking control of the Italy midfield while Pirlo wasnt having the best of games against the fast and pacy Japanese midfield. Balotelli and Giancherini always looked lively and the two combined only for the Juve man to strike the woodwork. 2-1 at the break.

In the second half Italy came out and hit the Japanese in a ten minute spell. Great work by Giacherini and Japan socred an own goal. Moments later a clamly taken Balotelli penalty and Italy were 3-2 up would you believe. Prandelli rang the perfect changes throughout the game. The ineffective Aquilani was hooked for Giovinco after 30 minutes. I felt the introduction of Marchisio would be crucial. His hard work and box to box running was ideal to close up this dangerous Japanese attacks.

Japan then headed in the equaliser. Then they hit the bar twice, missing from point blank Range. Buffon was called into action time and time again and when they thought they equalised it was ruled offside. On the break De Rossi slid Marchisio through and he found Giovinco. Italy stole it and qualified. It was dramatic. End to End action and I felt for the Japanese. But what a game of football and what a feeling for me as an Azurri Fan.

Forza Azurri. We have qualified

Next we take on Brazil
