News : German Warfare – Porsche 911 GT2
Porsche in on the attack with a slithering bullet. Shaped to embarrass its fellow V8 & V10 German cousins, it’s a re-incarnation of the GT2 with some respectable performance cred. The 3.6 liter boxer 6 cylinder motor spits fire at 328Km/h breathing out a hefty 395Kw. The real engineering magic lies in the kerb weight tipping the scales at 1440Kg which translates to power to weight ratio of 110Kw per Liter. Just to put that into perspective an M6 only manages 74Kw/Liter from its V10. Not to be taken lightly this German bomber will slice & dice many a super saloon. Its fiercest rival though will probably be the Gallardo Superleggera (V10 388kw). The rear wheel drive motor features a VVT system & Porsche’s Variocam. You could mistake it for any other 911 cos Porsche never really drastically change their designs. Well styled though at closer inspection, probably available in SA mid 2008, pricing around 2mil.

Infiniti G37
Infiniti is to Nissan what Lexus is to Toyota, originally developed by Nissan as its premium brand. The car not available in SA is quite big in Japan & the States. Suprising is the after market tuning capabilities of these sporty executive looking Jap muscle cars. The G37 is a follow on from the G35, which basically shared the same motor as the 350Z & won quite a few awards state-side including “Motor Trends” car of the year in 2003. This model however has a 3.7liter V6 which belts out about 250Kw, & sprints to 100Km/h in 5.1s, quite an agile saloon coupe packed with technology featuring all wheel drive in the form of 4 wheel active steer, a touch screen navigation system with real time traffic updates & an optional Bose sound system featuring 9 gig mp3 storage with 10 Inch subs. The sports coupe variation adds 19 inch wheels, a glass sunroof and a Viscous limited slip diff for those track days – impressive options indeed. Its priced to compete with Merc CLK 350, Audi A5, and BM 335. Plans for a 360Kw convertible are underway for 2009! Legend – Rolls Royce Phantom
I was fortunate enough to sit in a Rolls Royce Phantom recently, being chauffeured around the streets of Sandton – I kid you not. When you cruising around in one of these machines you feel like floppin royalty. People stare at you like you some kind of international tycoon. Inside its better than British airways first class, with a fridge at your disposal, DVD screens in front of you, plush leather interior & cinema quality surround sound. You could be doing 200Km/h and trust me the passengers would have no idea, its that smooth. The car is absolutely huge with standard 20” wheels. Oh and if you too lazy to close the doors, at the push of a button its sorted- a legend it is.
Now check this Rolls Royce have just released a drop top version, pure pimp mobile. Priced at about 4mil you will first need to get on the international waiting list-hehe. This car looks stunning…

Drag Scene
Jap tuning specialist were quick to jump at the tuning potential of the Infiniti G35, damn they even lined one up for the D1 GP i.e Drift Grand Prix. Jap performance tyre manufacturers Falken are responsible for setting up this 410Kw drift monster built to glide. The power is courtesy of Greddy twin turbo kit featuring TD05-18G units cooled by RS*R VMIC & upgraded Koyo radiator. The compression on the motor was reduced to 9.5:1 using JE Pistons.The tough bottom end was completed with Pauter rods. Engine management is controlled AEM. To reduce weight most of the interior was stripped & fitted with a custom roll cage.

Handling is up rated with Tein Flex Coil-overs, a KAAZ 2 way LSD and lightweight high strength 18” Volk racing wheels sporting Falken’s top of the line Azenis RT-615 tire. Also an ARC strut brace & Brembo 6 pot calipers .
