IM A PROTEA-THIS IS WHERE IT BEGINS

Well all the banter and Shit talk for the Cricket World Cup will go down on the blog. Im looking for some good arguments from the heavyweights. As I did with the Azurri I will now blog my team for the tournament individually called The Proteas, and another article covering the World Cup in general. I know alot of the toppies dont support South Africa but I am going for the bas#$%s. When that Klusener incident broke my heart way back I havent recovered fully. With the squad selection I think its pretty descent and its a good thing SA are taking, form with them into the Tournament. I know guys like Ebie J for one will be in South Africas Corner. On the squad selection last night. I was surprises by the ommission of Van De Wath. He would have been vital in the latter stages of the game. Telemachus ,The Dohoh(*old man) well If the owes get hold of him They will klap him. I dont understand the selectors. They go for youth and leave Klusener out. How old is Telemachus, about 75. Also Gerald Majola has said that there would be 7 players of color in the team by 2007. Although Im not that much of a cricket analyst but I think my opinion can hold its own
South Africa squad:
Graeme Smith (captain),Jacques Kallis,Loots Bosman,Mark Boucher(wicketkeeper), AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Hall,
Justin Kemp, Charl Langeveldt, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Robin Peterson, Shaun Pollock, Ashwell Prince, Roger Telemachus.
What about those other big hitters that we see in the standard bank. Guys that were unlucky are Morkel, Van Wyk, Kluesener, and Gerald Dros. What about Wendel Bossenger Azee, He could o the job for the Diamonds
But Jokes aside South Africa really have a good chance in this campaign.
Also I want the owes & chicks now lol, sorry zaheera to post the comments regarding the teams you guys supporting for the world cup So Come time for the Main Debates everyone cant change sides like Zunaid……….

I support them as well, though at times they think too much of themselves. They gonna go into the series with lots of confidence after two series victories. We need the likes of Smith to lead from the front. Gibbs and Kallis can also turn matches, however Gibbs hasn’t been in the most cositant of form. In the bowling, Polly and Ntini are up there with the best there is at the moment. Where we gonna fall short is with a quality spin bowler. Peterson is average and could go for big runs against the better teams. I’m Backing S.A all the way, but realisticly there is too much class in world cricket to get too excited right now. Also in a world cup you need that bit of luck, which S.A never seem to get in the big tournaments.

The side has 7 okes of colour which is great. at least its starting to represent a true SA.

i THINK sa are in good form but the lack of a quality spinner will hurt them. In the windies the pitches turn and are slow so u need a spinner, but alot of the grounds have new pitches after the renovations etc, so nobody knows exactly how they going to play.i am backing SA.

MY DARK HORSES ARE ENGLAND THEY CAME GOOD AT THE END OF THE AUSIE TOUR, IF VAUGHN IS FIT THEY WILL BE FORMIDABLE.

    WENDELL BOSSENGER WHAT A GUY?

I will be supporting Pakistan – have always been a paki supporter…

Think that Pakistan are far from favourite for this World Cup – lots of off-field contoversy, drugs tests, coach quiting or not, Afridi banned, poor results in SA, etc etc etc…. but then again, thats probably the type of thing that counts in Pakistan’s favour, they will perform when you least expect them to…. i think that their performance is heavily dependent on the form of Mohamad Yusuf and Inzi.. and on having 2 of Akhtar, Gul and Asif fit and firing…

As for SA…. probably the opposite of Pakistan… SA have a very strong ODI squad and are many people’s favourites…. ironically, this is probably something that doesn’t count in their favour… will they choke again, or will they handle the ‘pressure’ if being favourites… think that van der wath missed out because they wanted 7 players of colour… he could have been their in place of Roger…. agree with Azee that they will miss a quality spinner in a pressure situation.. like the semis, when they really need one…

Overall, many teams are hitting form (New Zealand, England, India, SA)… and ore importantly Australia seem to be dipping abit…

Should make for a cracker of a World Cup

Thank you for being my own coach on this topic. I actually enjoyed the article a lot and most of all enjoyed the way in which you handled the aspect I considered to be controversial. You happen to be always very kind towards readers really like me and help me in my living. Thank you.
